DSA cultivates an inclusive community that supports connection, growth, and well-being for every student throughout their GW journey.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN DSA
Strengthening Our Community
As a university, GW’s mission is to equip students with the knowledge, tools, and resilience they need to meet the world’s challenges with confidence and understanding. Fulfilling that role is never more vital than in times of conflict and change. We are grateful for the courage and candor this community has displayed over the last several months, and we invite you to join us in building a stronger GW.
Introducing: TimelyCare
All GW students have FREE, 24/7 access to virtual care services with TimelyCare — the virtual health and well-being platform designed for college students, including:
- MedicalNow: On-demand support for common health issues.
- TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand emotional support to talk about anything, including anxiety, relationships, depression, and school-related stressors.
- Self-Care Content: Access tools and resources, such as meditation and yoga sessions, helpful videos, and short articles from experts.
- and more!
Counseling & Psychological Services
Our mental health professionals are available to speak to GW students and can consult with faculty, staff, or parents about any mental health-related concerns, if desired. Counseling and Psychological Services is available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 202-994-5300. Additionally, drop-in hours are available Mon-Friday from 12pm – 4pm and TimelyCare virtually connects students to telehealth services at their convenience. More details regarding drop-in hours and about how the program works are on the Health Center website.
Academic Assistance
If you face academic difficulty as you continue with your courses, we encourage you to talk with your professors for extensions or incompletes and work with your academic advisor for documentation and support. The CARE Team is also here to guide students who are experiencing academic challenges.
CARE Team
We encourage all students, faculty, staff, and families who may be concerned about a student in need of additional support to reach out to the university’s CARE Team. Sometimes students don’t realize that they need help or may be afraid to ask. The CARE Team can help break down any perceived barriers to accessing campus support services. If you or someone you know has been personally affected by recent events, please submit a CARE Referral.
